Welcome! This page is dedicated to discussing my specialities and background. I am an licensed clinical social worker (LSCW) working toward my credentials in play therapy. When complete, I will also be a registered play therapist (RPT). I specialize in play therapy, individual therapy with children, adolescents, and adults, as well as family therapy. I maintain my private practice, Playful Healing & Counseling, LLC in Jasper, Indiana.
I have almost 10 years experience working as a therapist and graduated from the University of Southern Indiana in 2010 with my master's degree in social work. Following graduation, I had the opportunity to work at the Evansville Psychiatric Children's Center where I gained valueable knowledge and experience that is rare working with the most intense mentally ill children and families in the state of Indiana.
I am an interactive and fun therapist, and my therapeutic approach is to teach social skills as well as self-expression in appropriate ways, increase cognitve processess, provide stress relief, encourage imagination, and foster creativity. I provide support and practical feedback to help children and families effectively address personal life changes. I integrate several methododologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach to each client and their family. With compassion and understanding, I work with each client and family to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.
